The Wilton Fly Fishing Club
The Wilton Fly Fishing Club

Overseas Members

The Wilton Club has always had Members from around the world, keen to experience and be part of the history and tradition of the Club, and to enjoy this classic chalk stream fly fishing for wild brown trout.

We are often contacted by fly fishermen in other countries enquiring about what options on Membership we are able to offer to fit in with their infrequent visits to the UK, some are only able to come for a fishing trip once a year.

While we are unable to offer a reduction in fees, the Committee are sympathetic to their dilemma, and special provisions are in place to facilitate any overseas Members, to help them gain maximum benefit from becoming a Member of The Wilton Club.

When an overseas Member is able to come fishing, (maybe combining it with a business trip), provided they have contacted us in advance, a 'tailor made' set of arrangements are put into place so that no valuable fishing time is wasted.

This can cover everything or just a few small things.  We can identify and arrange preferred type of accomodation, the loan of top quality fishing equipment for the duration of their stay.  This includes, everything from waders, rods, reels, line, flies and sundries, - even lunches.

On the fishing days, one of the Clubs more experienced and successful Members, or the River Keeper, would be available to meet them and provide as much one to one advice and guidance as is required.  (Alternatively, once the Member has been taken to their chosen Reach, they can just be left to enjoy the peace and tranquility of the fishing for themselves)

Superb picnic lunches can be ordered and delivered to them on the river bank by a local delicatessen, Bird & Carter, their website is:-www.birdandcarter.co.uk

Perhaps of most importance, a specific season relevant selection of locally tied flies are available at a small cost.  In fact, anything that the Member may not have been able to bring with them or may have forgotten, - including waders!
